A Plan for Reformation in the PC(USA)
August 1, 2007

A plan for reformation in the PC(USA)called Let Us Rise Up and Build! is now available at http://www.presbycoalition.org. You are among the first to receive this news. I'm delighted that you have chosen to come to work with us at Gathering X in Houston. Your participation will help shape the effect of reform and renewal efforts for the future.

The team that has been at work since the Coalition meeting last August will be bringing this Plan for Reformation in the PC(USA) to this meeting for us to consider together. The time of deliberation will be surrounded by worship. It will be blessed by the prayers of those who come and those who cannot come. I am hearing already from those who promise to pray for us as we meet.

You may recall that last August's meeting was in the wake of the adoption of the PUP Report's authoritative interpretation as the General Assembly amended it. This plan is the Coalition's effort to respond to a strong call from those who attended that meeting for a comprehensive plan of action for renewal and reformation.

Because we think you will want to have time to read the plan and think about it before you arrive, we have posted it on our website and sent you this notice. The document is in two parts: the main body of the plan with its introductory material, and a separate set of appendices. I hope you'll take the time to read through both parts. The appendices are meant to be a beginning of offering support and practical helps to accomplishing the goals of the plan. Many of you have contributed to that collection of helps, and we hope it will continue to grow.

Those of us who have been thinking and praying about this document for nearly a year are now looking forward to a rich time of discussion with you about it.

A complete hard copy of the plan will be in your packet when you arrive at the registration table at Grace Church in Houston on Tuesday, August 14 (registration begins at 1:30 p.m.).

May God grant you safe travel. Please keep our time together in your prayers.

Terry Schlossberg
