Brief Descriptions of the Models
Reform Within - This model seeks to provide options for continuing faithfulness within the PC(USA) either through active engagement, passive indifference, or redirection of missional efforts.
Fellowship - This model seeks to provide an option for continuing faithfulness within the PC(USA) by means of some identification with others in the denomination who share the same concerns and passions. It affords a way for keeping together body and soul in the midst of struggle and frustration. No change in the Book of Order is required.
Trans-Geographic Presbyteries - This model requires a modest restructuring of the of the organization of the PC(USA) which permits churches to organize into new presbyteries without strict regard for geography or affiliate with existing presbytéries beyond their current natural geographical boundaries. Changes in the Book of Order are required.
Two-Synod - This model suggests a radical redesign of the organization of the PC(USA) along the lines of theology, ideology, and mission. It explores the possibility of a preferred missional future for the evangelical/orthodox wing of the denomination while still maintaining a unity of the whole. Changes in the Book of Order are required.
Separation
or Relocation - This option explores alternatives for those individuals
and churches who no longer feel in good conscience they can continue to be a
part of the PC(USA).
